The clients for whom this kitchen was built were attracted to hickory because of the variation in color.  The bar that you see is made of wormy chestnut reclaimed form an old farm building located on their land.  Wormy chestnut can only be obtained through reclaimation as a blight destroyed the trees in the 1920's.  The wood was provided to us in raw form and we planed it down to produce this lovely result.
